PM Modi Engages In Dialogue With President Macron On Ukraine Conflict And Bilateral Relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently engaged in a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. The discussion covered various aspects of their bilateral relationship and global issues. PM Modi shared on X that the dialogue was "very good," highlighting the positive evaluation of their cooperation in defence, trade, technology, and cultural exchanges. They also deliberated on significant international and regional topics.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine was a focal point during their conversation. PM Modi emphasised efforts to expedite the resolution of this crisis. He also noted that the India–France Strategic Partnership, which celebrated its 25th anniversary, remains crucial for fostering global peace, stability, and multilateral collaboration.

Focus on Ukraine Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently issued a stern warning to Western nations regarding military involvement in Ukraine. According to the New York Times, Putin stated that any foreign troops deployed would be considered legitimate targets for Russian forces. This statement was made at an economic forum in Vladivostok, as reported by Deutsche Welle (DW).

Putin further elaborated that foreign military presence would be unnecessary if peace agreements were established. "If decisions are reached that lead to peace, to long-term peace, then I simply do not see any sense in their presence on the territory of Ukraine, full stop," he remarked.

The conversation between PM Modi and President Macron underscored the importance of resolving the Ukraine conflict swiftly. Both leaders acknowledged the role of their strategic partnership in promoting international harmony and cooperation.
