Pakistan News | Imran Khan Alleges Pakistan Army's Involvement In Bushra Bibi's Poisoning
Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is currently serving a jail sentence, made a statement on Tuesday regarding his wife, the former First Lady Bushra Bibi.
He alleged that she had been poisoned while being held at their private residence, which has been converted into a sub-jail.

Pakistan Army's Involvement In Bushra Bibi's Poisoning, Claims Imran Khan
Khan emphasized that if any harm befell his wife, General Asim Munir, the Chief of the Pakistan Army, should be held responsible, suggesting that members of an intelligence agency were overseeing operations at their residence and the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi.
During the trial for the Toshakhana corruption case at Adiala jail, Khan informed Judge Nasir Javed Rana about the alleged poisoning attempt on Bushra Bibi. He mentioned that the poisoning had left visible marks on her tongue and skin, and he claimed to know the perpetrator behind the incident, as reported by First Post.
Khan urged the court to arrange for a medical examination of Bushra Bibi by Dr. Asim from Shaukat Khanum Hospital, expressing mistrust towards the doctor who had previously examined her. He also called for an investigation into the matter of her alleged poisoning.
Following Khan's request, the court instructed him to submit a detailed application regarding Bushra Bibi's medical examination. After the hearing, Bushra Bibi spoke to the media, addressing rumors circulating within the party about her being an "American agent" and alleging that she was poisoned with a popular toilet cleaner.
She claimed that three drops of the toilet cleaner had been added to her food, causing her health to deteriorate. Bushra Bibi described experiencing symptoms such as swollen eyes, chest and stomach pain, and bitterness in food and water, indicating suspicions of foul play.
While she acknowledged being treated decently at the Bani Gala sub-jail, Bushra Bibi noted restrictions on opening windows. Previously, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party had raised concerns about Bushra Bibi being fed "poisonous food" during her detention, alleging severe pain and expressing fears for her safety, as reported by First Post.
The PTI spokesperson cited "serious threats" to Bushra Bibi's life in detention, criticizing the denial of her constitutional right to a medical examination and alleging violations of both the Constitution and jail regulations. These restrictions were perceived as part of a deliberate plan to harm her.
In January, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were convicted in the Toshakhana corruption case, which involved the illegal sale of state gifts received during Khan's tenure as Prime Minister. Following Bushra Bibi's conviction, the PTI asserted that she had no involvement in the case and accused authorities of using the verdict to exert pressure on Khan.
Moreover, Barrister Gohar Khan, the Chairman of PTI, denounced the political victimization of Bushra Bibi and expressed concerns about her safety. He cautioned against potential misadventures orchestrated by powerful figures in the country, underscoring the need for accountability.
Since his ouster from power through a no-confidence motion in April 2022, Imran Khan has faced convictions in multiple cases, including the cipher case.
