Pakistan: MQM Chief sentenced to 81 years in jail

Karachi, Oct 13: Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Chief- Altaf Hussain-gets 81 Years in jail. The judgement has been passed by an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan for hate speeches against the country and inciting violence.The politician stays in London since 1992 on self exile. The court also slammed him with a fine of Rs 2.4 million.

The judge ordered the Inspector General of Sindh to execute the order as soon as possible and place his properties for sale in Karachi. The leader was heard criticizing the state and the army continuously this year till July when he left no other options open. He asked the NATO and the United Nations to send troops in Karachi.

Considerable number of cases are registered against the leader in various areas of Pakistan on charges of treason, incitement to violence and speeches against the state and armed forces.

In fact, the Lahore High Court has already imposed a ban on media coverage of Hussain and airing his speeches. MQM is a political party that migrated after the partition of India but ran into trouble when they were attacked by Rangers to bring peace in the country in 2013 with the backing of the army. The party is also accused of having links with the military and terror groups.
