In a stern rebuke, India has accused Pakistan of blatantly misusing the platform of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to spread false and malicious propaganda against India. The accusation was made by Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the Minister of State (MoS) holding dual charges in the education and external affairs ministries, while addressing the 19th NAM Summit-Ministerial Meeting in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.

Pakistan's Misuse of NAM Platform
Singh expressed deep concern over Pakistan's actions, stating that the country's propagation of false and malicious propaganda against India was an unfortunate and misplaced misuse of the esteemed NAM platform. He emphasized that any interference in India's internal affairs was completely unacceptable and rejected it outright.
Africa's Moment
On a positive note, Singh highlighted the successful induction of the African Union into the G20 during India's Presidency. He lauded the fact that an African country, Uganda, was now heading both the G-77 and NAM, reflecting the collective strength of the continent. Singh asserted that this was Africa's moment and expressed India's support for the continent's rise.
India's Commitment to NAM
As a founding member of NAM, India remains committed to the movement and believes that it should voice the hopes and aspirations of the young people. Singh emphasized the interconnectedness and interdependence of the world and stressed the importance of multilateralism. He viewed NAM as one of the world's largest multilateral fora mobilizing support for the Global South.
Defending NAM's Independence
Singh underscored the need to defend and nurture NAM's tradition of independence to set its own agenda. He commended Uganda's focus on key issues of importance to the Global South, including development, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and peace and security.
India's strong stance against Pakistan's misuse of the NAM platform highlights the country's commitment to upholding the integrity and credibility of international organizations. By emphasizing the importance of multilateralism and defending NAM's independence, India seeks to ensure that the movement remains a voice for the Global South and addresses the pressing challenges of the interconnected world.
