Pakistan Floods Claim 216 Lives; 13 More Dead in 24 Hours
The death toll due to rains and flood-related incidents has reached 216, with 13 new deaths in the last 24 hours, Geo TV reported, citing Pakistan's disaster management authority.
As per the report, 12 people were from Punjab and one from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Notably, 4 children and 3 women died in the last 24 hours. At least 580 people have been injured in rain-related incidents since June 26.

It has to be noted that 101 children have died due to the rains this monsoon.
The heavy downpour has left a trail of destruction as flooding has led to the collapse of buildings, and many deaths are reported after roofs have fallen. As per the NDMA, many people lost their lives due to collapsed homes, lightning strikes, drowning, and landslides.
Families in vulnerable homes have faced the brunt of the crisis, with many losing their lives to collapsing roofs, landslides, and lightning strikes. The relentless downpour has wiped out nearly 800 homes and killed almost 200 livestock.
As the nation grapples with this disaster, the United Nations warns of an even greater threat: glacier lake outburst floods in the northern regions. This year's crisis is a stark reminder of Pakistan's exposure to climate change, following the catastrophic 2022 floods that displaced millions.
The landslides are common in Pakistan during monsoon season between June and September in densely populated or poorly drained regions.
