Pakistan Confirms 'Full-Fledged' Ceasefire With India, Credits Global Diplomacy
Following days of military tension, Pakistan has declared that its ceasefire deal with India is "full-fledged" and not partial, marking a significant step towards de-escalation. Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister of Pakistan, stressed the comprehensive nature of the truce in an interview with Geo News on Saturday, claiming that the diplomatic efforts that resulted in the breakthrough encompassed about three dozen nations.
Dar stated that both countries have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, according to The Economic Times. His remarks followed U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that, after lengthy diplomatic negotiations led by the United States, India and Pakistan had established a "full and immediate" ceasefire.

"A truce has been agreed to by India and Pakistan with immediate effect. Without sacrificing its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Pakistan has always worked to promote regional peace and security," Dar wrote on X (previously Twitter).
The proclamation of a truce came as hostilities dramatically escalated, with both forces attacking each other's installations just hours before. "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE," Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform. Bravo to both nations for their excellent knowledge and use of common sense.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also emphasised the U.S. role in mediating the truce, stating that he and Vice President J.D. Vance had met with senior leaders from both countries within the past 48 hours. Rubio verified that he had discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, and the National Security Advisors of both nations, Asim Malik and Ajit Doval.
Rubio wrote on X, I'm happy to report that the governments of India and Pakistan have decided to start neutral talks on a variety of topics and to immediately halt hostilities. We applaud Prime Ministers Sharif and Modi for their statesmanship and judgement in deciding on the course of peace
The events signal a significant shift in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, which had threatened to degenerate into a more serious regional catastrophe. In order to expand on the truce and address more general strategic issues, negotiations are anticipated to start shortly.
