Pak floods in Pics: Over 200 people killed, nearly half a million affected
Islamabad, September 10: Like Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan is also in the grip of mother nature's fury. In Pakistan-administered-Kashmir, floods have claimed at least 181 lives so far and 343 are injured.

On Friday, Pakistan military was called to support the rescue operation after monsoon rain, flash floods and rain related accidents killed over 200 people. The downpour, being termed as one of the heaviest, started on Wednesday and is still continuing in parts of Punjab and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday undertook an aerial survey of flood-hit areas in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and appreciated the rescue and relief operations

"Our Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had aerial survey of Azad Kashmir (Pakistani-administered Kashmir) and other flood-hit areas on Sunday. Our rescue and relief operations are proceeding effectively. The people of Pakistan are also feeling pain and saddened over the loss of lives and properties of the people in IoK (Indian Jammu and Kashmir) and are with them and ready to help in whatever way possible to mitigate their sufferings caused by the heavy floods," a Pakistan government source said.

Heavy monsoon rains and flash floods have killed scores of people in Pakistan, as well as the part of Kashmir that is under Pakistan control.

Incessant showers leave a trail of death and destruction
Floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains have affected large swathes of fertile land in Pakistan's largest province of Punjab, as authorities are struggling to contain the losses and rescue stranded people.

The Khanki, Marala and Qadirabad barrages have been inundated by floods in the Chenab and risk being breached.

The floods are also threatening the city of Hafizabad.
The deluge has so far affected 556 villages, mostly in Gujranwala and Sialkot, where thousands of people are trapped and houses submerged with livestock washed away, the NDMA said.

The NDMA has warned of flooding in river Indus between September 13 and 14 at Guddu town in Sindh and at Sukkur on September 15.
The floods have destroyed crops on more than 28,000 acres of land in Punjab. The damage has mainly been caused by the flooding of Chenab and Jhelum rivers.
Several people are still missing in the flood-hit areas as army continued its rescue operations, media reports said.
