Vijay to Meet Karur Stampede Victims' Families, Offer Jobs to 32 Members Today

Ten months after the stampede that killed 41 people during a TVK rally, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will meet the families of the victims to hand over job offers on Friday at the Atlas Kalai Arangam Grounds.

According to ANI, offer letters will be handed over to 32 members of the victims' families at a government event beginning at 3 pm.

Speaking to IANS, a family member of a victim who died in the Karur stampede, Prabhu, said, "Our uncle was one of the victims who died in the Karur stampede. Today, the government is giving a job to my elder sister. They asked for her educational certificates, and we submitted all the required documents. We still don't know what job has been allotted to her. The Chief Minister is not just offering condolences; he is helping us live with dignity. None of us has criticised the Chief Minister for giving us a government job"

Similarly, Vimal, who lost his one-and-a-half-year-old son, Thruvish, in the 2025 incident, has welcomed the government's decision.

Speaking to ANI, he said, "When my son passed away, I went to Chennai to meet Mr Vijay. He is the Chief Minister now and has come here. He asked me to come and meet him. So, I am going to meet him. I have submitted the application forms at the Taluk office as requested. I don't know what kind of job it will be. I will find out after I meet him. My son's death is a huge loss for me. But they are offering me a job. I will go and see what position it is. I don't know anything about politics. They are saying they will give me a job. I don't know what will happen. I see it as a positive thing,"

The Chief Minister will also take part in a series of events in Karur.

As per his schedule, the Tamil Nadu CM will distribute various government welfare benefits at the District Collectorate in Thanthoni Malai. Vijay will also lay the foundation stone for a private non-leather footwear manufacturing factory at Vanavasi Panchayat in Krishnarayapuram Panchayat Union.

This project, estimated to cost Rs 1,700 crore, is expected to generate employment for around 13,500 people, The New Indian Express reported citing officials.

On September 27, 2025, Vijay visited Velusamypuram for a political rally. Unfortunately, the event ended in tragedy as 41 people were killed, including 17 women and 10 children.
