Operation Sindhu: India To Evacuate Its Citizens Who Wish To Leave Israel Amid Escalating Iran Conflict

A day after initiating the evacuation of Indian nationals from Iran, the Indian government on Thursday announced plans to evacuate citizens wishing to leave Israel under Operation Sindhu, amid the rapidly escalating conflict between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Indian nationals in Israel would first be transported across land borders before being flown back to India.

"In view of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India has decided to evacuate from Israel those Indian nationals who wish to leave. Their travel from Israel to India will be facilitated through the land borders and thereafter by air to India," the statement read.

The MEA added that the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv would coordinate the necessary arrangements. All Indian nationals currently in Israel were urged to register with the Embassy via the website [indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian\_national\_reg](https://indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian_national_reg), if they had not already done so.

"In case of any queries, they may contact the 24/7 Control Room established at Embassy of India, Tel Aviv: telephone numbers: +972 54-7520711; +972 54-3278392; email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])," the statement added.

The Embassy reiterated earlier advisories, calling on Indian citizens in Israel to stay alert and adhere to safety protocols.

"The Government of India accords the highest priority to the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad. The Government will continue to monitor the situation closely. The Embassy remains continuously in touch with the community with a view to extending all feasible assistance," the MEA said.

According to a Washington-based Iranian human rights group, at least 639 people, including 263 civilians, have lost their lives in Iran. Over 1,300 have been injured.

In response, Iran launched around 400 missiles and hundreds of drones, resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people in Israel and leaving many more wounded.
