North Korea's Latest Missile Test: Here's Are The Strategic Implications
North Korea conducted a ballistic missile test on Wednesday that appears to have ended in failure, according to South Korea's military.
This test followed North Korea's objections to the recent deployment of a US aircraft carrier for joint military exercises with South Korea and Japan.

Internatrional Response On North Korea's Latest Missile Test
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea launched a ballistic missile from its capital region at around 5:30 am local time on Wednesday. The missile was aimed towards North Korea's eastern waters, but it is suspected to have failed, although South Korean and US intelligence are still analyzing the details, as reported by India Today.
Japan's Defense Ministry also confirmed detecting a suspected ballistic missile launch by North Korea. According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, the missile flew approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles). It was reported that North Korea may have been testing a hypersonic missile. Japanese media noted that the projectile fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
The missile launch occurred shortly after South Korea observed North Korea sending large balloons, possibly carrying debris, across the border for the second consecutive day. This action was seen as a response to South Korean activists flying political leaflets into North Korea using similar balloons. In early June, South Korea briefly resumed propaganda broadcasts via loudspeakers at the border.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived in South Korea recently, with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visiting the carrier on Tuesday, marking the first time a sitting South Korean president has boarded a US aircraft carrier since 1994, as reported by India Today citing AP. President Yoon emphasized the strength of the US-South Korea alliance during his visit, ahead of the "Freedom Edge" military exercise involving South Korea, the US, and Japan.
North Korea criticized the US aircraft carrier's deployment as reckless and dangerous, previously labeling joint US-South Korean drills as rehearsals for invasion. This latest missile test is seen as part of North Korea's efforts to bolster its military capabilities amid ongoing tensions with the United States and its allies, as per media reports.
In recent developments, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a cooperation agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a summit in Pyongyang, highlighting closer ties between the two countries. This partnership has raised concerns among US and allied officials, particularly amid North Korea's accelerated pace of weapons tests aimed at enhancing its nuclear capabilities.
