Two US Navy SEALs Missing After Mission Off Somalia Coast
Two US Navy SEALs are missing after conducting a nighttime boarding mission off the coast of Somalia. The mission was unrelated to Operation Prosperity Guardian, the ongoing US and international mission to provide protection to commercial vessels in the Red Sea, or the retaliatory strikes that the United States and the United Kingdom have conducted in Yemen over the past two days.
Two US Navy SEALs are reported missing following a nighttime boarding mission conducted off the coast of Somalia, according to a US official. The mission was not associated with Operation Prosperity Guardian, the ongoing US and international mission aimed at protecting commercial vessels in the Red Sea, nor was it related to the retaliatory strikes carried out by the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen over the past two days.

Unrelated to Other Operations
The operation involving the missing SEALs was also unrelated to the St. Nikolas, an oil tanker seized by Iran, as confirmed by a US official. The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, provided details that have not yet been made public.
US Military's Role in the Region
In addition to defending ships from drones and missiles launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, the US military has also intervened to assist commercial vessels targeted by piracy.
Search and Rescue Operations Underway
In a statement released on Saturday, US Central Command announced that search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the two missing sailors. The command stated that no further information regarding the incident that occurred on Thursday night will be disclosed until the personnel recovery mission is completed.
Deployment and Mission Support
The missing sailors were forward-deployed to the US 5th Fleet area of operations, where they were involved in supporting a diverse range of missions.
