Message from India to Pakistan: Happy Independence Day! Let peace, brotherhood, love prevail
In spite of all the tensions between India and Pakistan, several Indians wished their Pakistani brothers and sisters a happy Independence Day.
New Delhi, August 14: It is the best time for India and Pakistan--the two neighbouring nations, currently at loggerheads with each other--to reignite "peace, brotherhood and love" among themselves, as they are celebrating their respective Independence Days.
Every year, India and Pakistan celebrate their Independence Days within a gap of 24 hours of each other. While Pakistan marked the "big day" on Monday, India is all geared up to celebrate its 70th Independence Day on Tuesday.

Both the countries embraced independent paths after they got independence from the British Raj in 1947. The bloodbath that saw the partition of Pakistan from India, back in 1947, is one of the most "horrific" moments witnessed in the world history.
Over the years, India and Pakistan fought several wars and saw multiple conflicts between themselves. Both the countries fought four wars--the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 (Bangladesh Liberation War) and Indo-Pakistani War of 1999 (Kargil War).
Kashmir is the main cause of conflict between the nations. While Kashmir joined India after Independence, Pakistan claims its "legitimate" hold over the Valley.
In recent times too, relationship between the two countries has reached a rock bottom as Pakistan continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism in Kashmir. Currently, all the talks between the two countries are on hold.
In spite of all these political and military differences, people-to-people connect has not yet stopped between the two nations. That is why on Pakistan's Independence Day, several Indians wished the neighbouring nation.
Bollywood veteran Rishi Kapoor tweeted on Sunday to wish Pakistanis a happy "Youm-e-Azadi", as the country's Independence Day is also known as.
The actor's family originally hails from Pakistan. His grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, the pioneer of Indian cinema and theatre, was born in Punjab province of Pakistan.
"Wishing all my friends from Pakistan a Happy "Youm -e- Azaadi" ka din. Happy Independence Day! Let Peace, brotherhood and Love prevail!" tweeted Kapoor.
Other Indians too wished Pakistan on Twitter. Here is one of them:
The army of both the countries exchanged sweets at Wagah-Attari border on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day.
An Indian musical band--Voxchord--has released an A Capella version of Pakistan's national anthem, Pak Sarzamin, recently. You can watch the heart-warming musical dedication to the neighbouring country below:
