Far-Right Figure Martin Sellner Silenced in Switzerland
Martin Sellner, a prominent European far-right figure, was prevented from giving a speech in Switzerland and thrown out of the region. Sellner, who comes from neighbouring Austria, said that a few minutes after he started speaking at the event, the electricity was turned off and he was taken to a police station.
A prominent European far-right figure, Martin Sellner, was barred from delivering a speech at an event in Switzerland and subsequently expelled from the region. Sellner, a member of the Identitarian Movement, had been invited by a local group, Junge Tat (Young Deed), to discuss "remigration and the ethnic vote," as well as the events that sparked extensive protests in Germany.

Remigration and the Potsdam Meeting
Remigration refers to the return, sometimes involuntary, of non-ethnically European immigrants to their ancestral homelands. Sellner, who hails from neighboring Austria, explained that shortly after beginning his speech on Saturday, the power was cut off, and he was taken to a police station. He was then informed that he had been expelled from the canton of Aargau and escorted to Zurich.
Police Intervention
The regional police issued a statement indicating that they had received multiple tips and subsequently located the Junge Tat event in the small town of Tegerfelden. Upon discovering the nature of the planned meeting, the landlady canceled the contract for the venue. Despite police instructions to terminate the event, the organizers refused to comply. Without explicitly naming Sellner, the police stated that the speaker was detained and ordered to leave the canton to ensure public safety and prevent potential confrontations with opponents.
Protests in Germany
Germany has witnessed significant protests against the far right following a report that extremist individuals gathered in Potsdam in November to discuss the deportation of millions of immigrants, including German citizens. Sellner presented his "remigration vision" for the deportation of immigrants during that meeting. The event has drawn widespread criticism, particularly targeting the Alternative for Germany party, as some of its members reportedly attended. The party has attempted to distance itself from the event while simultaneously condemning the media coverage of it.
The incident in Switzerland highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding far-right ideologies and the potential for public unrest. As the debate over immigration and national identity continues to unfold, authorities face the challenge of balancing freedom of expression with the preservation of public order and safety.
