Jossimar Cabrera Extradited from Peru to Face Murder Charges in California Case

Jossimar Cabrera has been extradited from Peru to California to face murder charges after the body of his wife, Sheylla Cabrera, was found in Angeles National Forest. He is suspected of killing her and fleeing with their children.

A man accused of murdering his wife and abandoning her body in a forest in Southern California has been returned to the United States from Peru to face charges, according to Los Angeles authorities. Jossimar Cabrera, aged 36, was brought back to Los Angeles International Airport on Friday night after being detained in Peru since late August, as reported by the LA County Sheriff's Department.

The district attorney's office has officially charged him with murder. It remains unclear if he has legal representation. The body of Sheylla Cabrera, aged 33, was discovered on August 16 at the base of an embankment in Angeles National Forest, south of Lancaster, where the couple resided with their three young sons. She had been reported missing on August 12.

Surveillance Footage and Investigation

Detectives investigating the homicide found surveillance footage showing Jossimar Cabrera dragging a heavy object wrapped "in a large piece of material" from their apartment complex. When Sheylla Cabrera's body was found, it was wrapped in similar material, according to the sheriff's department.

The suspect fled to Peru with their three sons. On August 16, Peru's foreign ministry announced on social media that it had sent the children back to Los Angeles to be reunited with their mother's family. The cause of Sheylla Cabrera's death has not been revealed.

Legal Proceedings and Family Reunification

Jossimar Cabrera faces serious legal proceedings following his extradition. The district attorney's office is pursuing a murder charge against him. Meanwhile, the children have been safely returned to Los Angeles and are now with their maternal relatives.
