Man gets 27 years prison for plot to torture and eat a child

: In what appears to be a serious criminal offence that may run a shiver down your spine, a British man on Tuesday was sentenced to nearly 27 years in US prison for planning to kidnap, torture and eat at least one child.

Geoffrey Portway, 40, was sentenced by Judge Timothy Hilman after pleading guilty in May to charges related to child pornography and plotting a kidnapping and violent crime.

Federal agents, last year, upon investigating crimes against children found the sound-proofed dungeon, a homemade coffin, a steel cage, a steel table, butcher kits and restraints in the basement of Portway's residence.

Agents also discovered evidence of more than 4,500 exchanges of child pornography on his computer. Portway admitted that he used to have online chats with many people, who shared a 'mutual interest in abducting, raping, murdering and eating children' and also agreed to have traded child pornography.

Portway's attorney on the other hand defended his client saying that, though he was 'sick' and must be punished, he only immersed himself in a world of fantasy on the internet and never intended to carry out any plans to harm any children.
