Khawaja Asif: Pakistan Made ‘No Such Commitment’ To Iran On Israel Nuclear Strike
Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, a controversial claim made by an Iranian military official has sparked strong reactions in Islamabad. General Mohsen Rezaei, a senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and a member of its National Security Council, alleged that Pakistan had pledged to retaliate with a nuclear strike against Israel if Tehran were attacked with nuclear weapons.
According to General Rezaei's remarks on Iranian state television, "Pakistan has told us that if Israel uses a nuclear bomb on Iran, then Pakistan will also attack Israel with a nuclear bomb." His statement quickly attracted international attention, raising concerns about the possibility of nuclear escalation in the already volatile Middle East.

Islamabad Issues Clear Denial
In response, Pakistan swiftly denied any such commitment. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif took to social media platform X to refute the claim, asserting that no such promise had been made. He emphasized that Pakistan adheres to all international nuclear protocols and frameworks.
"Our nuclear capability is solely for the defence of our country and the well-being of our people. We do not engage in hegemonic designs against any neighbour, unlike what we are currently witnessing from Israel," Asif stated.
The minister further cautioned Western powers, urging them to take note of Israel's nuclear posture. He underlined that Israel remains outside the scope of key global nuclear agreements, including the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and operates without any binding international checks.
Iran-Israel Conflict Enters Fourth Day
The diplomatic row over the alleged nuclear pact comes as Iran and Israel remain locked in a fierce military confrontation. For the fourth consecutive day, the region has witnessed intense violence. Iran has launched several missile barrages and airstrikes toward Israel, reportedly resulting in the deaths of at least 24 people.
On the other side, Iran claims to have suffered heavy losses due to Israeli strikes since June 13. According to Iran's Health Ministry, at least 224 people have died in the recent wave of attacks, a significant number of whom were civilians, including women and children.
The conflict has drawn concern from the global community, with fears of further escalation, particularly in light of nuclear rhetoric. While Iran's claim about Pakistan's nuclear involvement appears to be unfounded based on Islamabad's categorical denial, the tensions underline the fragile and dangerous nature of regional alliances amid intensifying conflict.
