The Princess shared her relief at being in remission and emphasised her focus on recovery. "It takes time to adjust to a new normal," she stated, acknowledging the challenges faced by those diagnosed with cancer. She expressed optimism for the future, saying, "I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support," she said in a message on social media signed C.

Royal Visit Highlights Cancer Care

During her hospital visit, Kate met with patients currently undergoing treatment and interacted with staff across various roles. The Royal Marsden Hospital is renowned for its world-class cancer care and treatment. A spokesperson from Kensington Palace mentioned that Kate wanted to highlight the exceptional care provided by this specialist hospital.

Reflecting on her experience, Kate expressed deep gratitude towards those who supported her and Prince William throughout their journey. "My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn't have asked for more," she said. She praised the exceptional care and advice received during her treatment.

Royal Patronage and Historical Significance

The Royal Marsden Hospital, established in 1851, was the first hospital dedicated to cancer diagnosis and treatment. It operates across three sites in London: Chelsea, Cavendish Square, and Sutton. The hospital is recognised as a leading centre for cancer research and education worldwide.

Kensington Palace announced that Kate and Prince William are now joint patrons of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, expressed delight at their patronage. "We were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales to the Royal Marsden in Chelsea this morning, and are delighted that Her Royal Highness is now joining His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, in becoming joint patrons of our specialist cancer centre," she said.

Continuing Legacy of Support

Prince William has been president of the Royal Marsden since 2007, a role previously held by his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Last June, he inaugurated a new Oak Cancer Centre in Sutton, south London. His ongoing involvement underscores the royal family's commitment to supporting cancer care initiatives.

In September last year, Kate disclosed that she had completed chemotherapy after enduring challenging months due to an undisclosed form of cancer. Earlier in March 2024, she had announced plans for preventative chemotherapy following tests after abdominal surgery indicated cancer.

Kate's recent birthday celebration saw Prince William paying tribute to her resilience over the past year. "The strength you've shown over the last year has been remarkable," he shared in a post on X.

The Princess's visit not only highlighted her personal journey but also underscored the importance of world-leading cancer care provided by institutions like the Royal Marsden Hospital.
