Juliana Marins Death: Brazilian Woman Found Dead in Indonesia 4 Days after Falling Into Active Mount Rinjani
A Brazilian tourist, Juliana Marins, aged 26, was discovered deceased by search teams on Tuesday, four days after she became stranded on a trail at Mount Rinjani in Indonesia. Her family confirmed the tragic news of her passing. "Today, the rescue team was able to reach the spot where Juliana Marins was. With immense sadness, we inform that she did not survive. We remain deeply grateful for all the prayers, kind messages, and support we have received," they shared on a social media profile dedicated to updates about the search.

Juliana's distressing journey began on Friday when she fell while hiking to Mount Rinjani's summit on Lombok Island. She had expressed fatigue during the trek, which was anticipated to last three days. The guide advised her to rest as the group proceeded. Left alone, she apparently fell into a steep and inaccessible area.
Rescue Efforts and Challenges
Initially, reports suggested Juliana had received food and warm clothing after being spotted by a drone. However, her family later informed Folha that no assistance had reached her. They also mentioned that she had moved from her last known location and was missing again. This led to criticism over delays in rescue efforts.
The search operation involved 48 personnel from various agencies. On Tuesday morning, a helicopter attempted another approach but was hindered by adverse weather conditions. The challenging terrain made it difficult for both climbers and helicopters to access the area where Juliana was trapped.
International Response
Following complaints from Juliana's family about the slow rescue response, both Indonesian and Brazilian governments took action to aid in her rescue. The mission garnered significant attention on social media platforms, prompting widespread reactions.
On Monday, authorities located Juliana using a thermal drone. She was found motionless on a rocky cliff according to park officials. Unfortunately, bad weather repeatedly forced suspensions of the search efforts.
Hiker Left Behind: Sister Claims Juliana Marins Was Abandoned on Mount Rinjani
Juliana Marins, a 26-year-old Brazilian woman, was reportedly left behind by her hiking guide during a trek on Mount Rinjani in Indonesia. According to her sister Marianna Marins, Juliana had asked to take a break while hiking with a small group. However, the local guide allegedly chose to continue the climb without waiting for her.
Speaking to Brazil's Fantástico TV program, Marianna said her sister was left confused and disoriented, unsure of where to go or what to do. By the time the guide returned-after realising Juliana hadn't caught up-she had already suffered a fall, Marianna added.
