Jaishankar Concludes France Visit, Praises Support in Fight Against Terrorism
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar concluded his four-day visit to France, expressing gratitude for France's robust support in combating terrorism. During his stay, he engaged with President Emmanuel Macron and French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the commitment to fully implement the Horizon 2047 Roadmap and Defence Industrial Roadmap agreed upon by both nations.

Jaishankar and Barrot reviewed progress in strategic areas such as defence, security, space, counter-terrorism, and global issues. They expressed satisfaction with advancements in technology, innovation, trade, investment, health, life sciences, education, talent mobility, museum cooperation, and people-to-people ties. The discussions underscored the deep trust and shared ambitions characterising India-France relations.
India-France Strategic Partnership
The visit aimed to inject fresh momentum into the India-France Strategic Partnership. This partnership builds on a strong foundation of trust and shared values. Jaishankar's discussions with the strategic community in France focused on global rebalancing and the potential for a robust India-Europe partnership.
During his visit, Jaishankar participated in the inaugural Mediterranean Raisina Dialogue in Marseille. He contributed to discussions on critical geopolitical developments and regional dynamics. This engagement highlighted India's active role in addressing global challenges alongside France.
Regional and Global Issues
Jaishankar and Barrot exchanged views on regional and global matters of mutual interest. They emphasised the convergence of views between India and France regarding the Indo-Pacific region. This alignment is crucial for addressing global challenges effectively.
The external affairs minister also visited France's National Library in Paris. There, he explored classical Indian manuscripts and texts within their collection. Discussions with the library's president focused on opportunities for greater collaboration in heritage conservation.
Condolences and Cultural Engagement
Jaishankar expressed appreciation for France's condolences regarding the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad earlier that week. This gesture reinforced the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. The visit further strengthened cultural engagement through discussions on heritage conservation.
The discussions between Jaishankar and Macron reflected a deep trust and comfort between India and France. Both sides are committed to implementing agreed roadmaps to enhance their bilateral relationship further. The visit concluded with optimism for continued collaboration across various sectors.
