Israeli Embassy Recommends Indian Beach Escapes Amid Maldives Travel Restrictions
Following the Maldives' recent decision to prohibit Israeli passport holders from entering the country, the Israeli Embassy in India took proactive steps to address the situation.
Through a post on X platform, the embassy extended alternative travel suggestions to Israeli tourists, highlighting the beauty and hospitality of various Indian beach destinations.

Israeli Embassy Suggests Indian Beaches Amid Maldives Ban
Notably, recommendations included the pristine shores of Lakshwadeep, the vibrant beaches of Goa, the secluded paradises of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and the serene coastlines of Kerala. In parallel, Kobbi Shoshani, the Israeli consul general in Mumbai, acknowledged a previous statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising the natural splendour of Lakshadweep.
Expressing appreciation for the Maldives' stance, Shoshani remarked on the newfound opportunity for Israelis to explore the captivating beaches of Lakshadweep. The announcement of the Maldives' travel ban for Israeli passport holders was made by Maldives Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihsaan, during a press conference at the President's Office.
This decision, stemming from a recommendation by the Cabinet, was subsequently endorsed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. It involved the enactment of laws to restrict Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives, with a dedicated Cabinet subcommittee tasked with overseeing the implementation of these regulations.
In response to the travel advisory issued by Israel's foreign ministry, cautioning against visits to the Maldives for Israeli citizens, President Mohamed Muizzu outlined plans to appoint a special envoy to assess the needs of Palestinians. Additionally, initiatives were announced to launch a fundraising campaign in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, aimed at supporting the Palestinian community.
Amidst these developments, data reported by Reuters indicated a significant decline in Israeli tourist arrivals to the Maldives in comparison to the previous year. This decision by the Maldives government coincided with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, which escalated following Hamas' attack on Israel in October, prompting Israel to respond by pledging to dismantle Hamas.
