Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Daniel Hagari announced on Thursday, 19th October, that families of 203 individuals have been informed that their loved ones are being held hostage in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the IDF disclosed that 306 soldiers have lost their lives since the commencement of the conflict on 7th October.

However, Hagari emphasized that these numbers are not final, as the IDF is continuously investigating new information about Israelis who have gone missing since the 7th October attack, as reported by The Times of Israel.

He explained that in certain cases, the families have been notified that the military has strong confidence that their loved ones are held by Hamas. In other cases, the military's confidence level is moderate to low regarding the status of those missing.

The ongoing war, which began when Hamas militants infiltrated Israel after which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to eradicate the militant group, that has become the deadliest of the five Gaza conflicts for both sides. The Gaza health ministry, run by Hamas, reported on Wednesday, 18th October, that 3,478 Palestinians have been killed, with over 12,000 injured in the past 11 days.

The Israeli military spokesperson stated that more than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel.

In the midst of this, residents and medical professionals in a southern Gaza town reported that an airstrike struck a home, resulting in the tragic deaths of seven small children, according to the Associated Press.

The heart-wrenching news rapidly spread across social media, with distressing images of lifeless and injured toddlers, placed side by side on a hospital stretcher, provoking outrage in Gaza and the West Bank.

The lifeless bodies, wrapped in bandages and covered in dust, were taken to the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Younis, along with three other deceased members of the Bakri family. Photographers swarmed the operating room, as women covered their eyes and doctors struggled to contain their emotions.

"This is a massacre," stated Dr. Yousef Al-Akkad, the hospital director, his voice quivering with emotion. "Let the world bear see, these are just children"

Local medical personnel confirmed that the children were indeed killed in an airstrike, and the Bakri family was just one of several tragic cases on that fateful Wednesday.

At the time of this report, there had been no immediate comment from the Israeli military regarding the incident.
