Islamic State claims responsibility for London attack

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the London attack. The IS through its various channels has claimed that the attacker was their soldier. The claim was made through their mouthpiece Amaq.

The London attacker who killed four and injured over 40 persons on Wednesday outside the UK Parliament appeared to have derived the style of attack from the Islamic State. The attack was in many ways similar to the ones that took place in Nice and Berlin.

The attacker plowed his car through a crowd of people on a bridge over the River Thames before getting out and stabbing a police officer. In both the Nice and Berlin attacks, the terrorist had used a vehicle to kill people.

The use of a vehicle in an act of terror is part of a text book that the Islamic State has released. There are several methods suggested to kill people and one of them is using a vehicle.

The London police have made it clear that it was an act of terror. It was an Islamist-related terror incident, they also said. The IS has not yet claimed credit for the attack, but going by past instances they are bound to very soon.

The IS has several fighters from the UK. In fact the fighters from the UK form the largest part of the IS camp in Syria and Iraq. It was only recently that the chief of the IS, Abu Bakr-al Bhagdadi had ordered his fighters to return to their home countries and stage terror strikes.

An Intelligence Bureau official in India tracking the developments in London says that there is no doubt that it is an Islamist inspired attack. The attacker may have been inspired by the IS or al-Qaeda. It was clearly a lone wolf attack, the officer also informed.
