Mojtaba Khamenei Health Update: Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei continues to be unconscious amid the latest threats from US President Donald Trump to destroy power plants and bridges, Times reported.

The newspaper, citing an intelligence assessment, said a diplomatic memo based on inputs from the United States and Israel - and shared with Gulf allies - suggests that Khamenei is currently incapacitated and unable to take part in governing the country.

According to the report, the memo reveals for the first time that Mojtaba Khamenei is being treated in a critical state, leaving him unable to get involved in any decision-making within the Iranian leadership. The Times stated that it had reviewed the document, which is said to have been circulated among Western and regional intelligence networks.

The National Security Agency, which handles global intelligence for the United States, has reportedly been contacted in connection with the memo. Iran's diplomatic representation in Washington - currently functioning through the Pakistani embassy - has also been approached for comment.

Khamenei has not made any public appearances since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Statements attributed to him have instead been broadcast through Iranian state media, raising further questions about his condition and ability to lead.

The report suggested that preparations may already be underway in Qom for the burial of Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. However, this is an unverified claim.

On the other hand, tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate. Iran has remained defiant in the face of increasingly aggressive rhetoric from former US President Donald Trump, who has threatened severe military action against the country's infrastructure.

Reacting to these threats, Iran's deputy sports minister, Alireza Rahimi, has reportedly urged citizens - particularly artists and athletes - to form "human chains" around key power plants. In comments posted on social media and cited by Reuters, Rahimi described any attack on public infrastructure as a war crime, calling for a show of unity against potential strikes.

The appeal follows Trump's warning that Iran's power plants could be "burning, exploding and never to be used again" if Tehran fails to reach an agreement by a set deadline. The remarks have heightened fears of further escalation in an already volatile region.

Iranian officials have dismissed Trump's statements as baseless and inflammatory. According to state-run Press TV, a spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, described the threats as "delusional" and insisted they would have no effect on Iran's military operations.

In a video statement, Zolfaghari accused the United States of attempting to justify its own setbacks, adding that Iran would continue what he described as "crushing" operations against American and allied forces. He characterised the US rhetoric as arrogant and rooted in strategic failure.

Trump has since expanded his warnings to include not only power plants but also bridges and other key infrastructure. He set a deadline of 8 pm Eastern Time for Iran to comply with demands regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that failure to do so could result in devastating consequences. He warned that the entire country could be targeted in a single night, indicating that no further extensions would be granted.
