Senior Congress leader K C Venugopal reviewed the Congress organisation in West Bengal on Monday. Venugopal asked state leaders to build stronger grassroots networks. The review aimed to ready the party for upcoming assembly by-elections and civic polls. Venugopal is the party general secretary organisation. A senior party leader shared details of the meetings.

During a two-day visit, Venugopal held separate sessions with district Congress committee presidents. Venugopal also met members of the party’s Political Affairs Committee. The talks assessed the party’s showing after the recent elections. Leaders also discussed the current political situation in West Bengal, according to the senior leader.

According to the senior leader, the meetings stressed rebuilding the organisation from the booth level. Leaders discussed tighter coordination among party workers across the state. The senior leader said the plan included stronger booth- and block-level committees. Leaders also discussed wider public outreach across West Bengal. The review looked at steps to ensure readiness for assembly by-elections. It also covered planning for municipal and municipal corporation elections in the state.

Several senior leaders attended the meetings with Venugopal. The participants included AICC general secretary in-charge of West Bengal, Ghulam Ahmed Mir. AICC general secretary Deepa Dasmunshi was also present. West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhankar Sarkar attended. AICC secretary Amba Prasad joined, along with other senior party functionaries.

The party also reviewed plans for the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee’s proposed Shahid Minar Chalo programme. The programme is scheduled for July 21. Leaders called for maximum participation by party workers. The discussions linked the programme to wider efforts to raise the party’s presence on the ground.

Venugopal also asked the state unit to join the nationwide "Chhatron Ki Goonj\" campaign. Leaders discussed mobilising students and youth across the state. The campaign is set to end with a rally in New Delhi. The concluding rally is scheduled for August 9, the senior leader said.

The review ended with a push for stronger local structures and better coordination. Leaders linked this work to the coming by-elections and civic polls. Plans were also tied to July 21 in Kolkata and August 9 in New Delhi. The meetings signalled a focus on preparation, participation, and consistent outreach across West Bengal.
