Iran Rejects Nuclear And Sanctions Demands After US Sets 5 Conditions In Ongoing Talks

Tensions between the United States and Iran have deepened after reports revealed that Washington has laid down five major conditions during ongoing negotiations linked to Iran's nuclear programme and regional conflicts. Iranian media outlets claimed the US has refused to make meaningful concessions while continuing to push demands related to uranium transfers, sanctions, and nuclear restrictions.

Tensions between the US and Iran escalate over nuclear talks, with reports stating Washington demands uranium transfer and operational limits, while Tehran counters that the US offers no concessions and seeks sanctions relief.

US Demands Uranium Transfer And Nuclear Restrictions

According to Iran's Fars News Agency, the United States has demanded that Iran transfer 400 kilograms of enriched uranium to America as part of the negotiations. The report further stated that Washington wants only one set of Iran's nuclear facilities to remain operational.

The US has also reportedly refused to compensate Iran for losses caused by previous sanctions and American policy decisions. Another key demand involves maintaining restrictions on Iran's frozen overseas assets, with reports claiming Washington rejected the release of even 25 per cent of those funds.

In addition, the continuation and completion of negotiations have reportedly been linked to ending conflicts on multiple fronts across the region. However, the report added that threats of possible American and Israeli military action would continue even if Iran accepted the conditions.

Iran Says US Offering No Real Concessions

Iranian media sharply criticised the American position, claiming Washington is seeking gains through negotiations that it could not secure through military pressure.

"The United States, offering no tangible concessions, wants to obtain concessions that it failed to obtain during the war, which will lead to an impasse in the negotiations," Mehr news agency said.

Tehran has reportedly proposed five "confidence-building" conditions of its own before any long-term agreement can move forward. These include ending conflicts in regional theatres, particularly Lebanon, lifting sanctions on Iran, and releasing frozen Iranian assets.

Iran has additionally demanded compensation for damages caused during the conflict and formal recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical oil shipping routes.

Iranian Officials Warn Against Further Military Action

Iran's armed forces spokesperson warned the United States against carrying out any new military attacks, saying future strikes would face "more crushing and severe blows", according to reports.

Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baqaei, accused Washington of using diplomacy to conceal broader military objectives in the region.

"This is their familiar, cynical playbook: manufacture crisis and war, then escalate further under the noble banner of 'restoring stability' and 'defending peace.' They create a desolation and call it peace," he wrote on social media platform X.

Esmail further alleged that both the United States and Israel were falsely presenting themselves as protectors of stability in global energy markets while actually contributing to regional instability.

Ceasefire Failed To Deliver Permanent Agreement

The latest tensions follow joint American and Israeli military strikes on Iran carried out on February 28. Iran later launched retaliatory attacks that disrupted shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz, escalating fears of wider regional instability.

A ceasefire was eventually reached on April 8 through mediation efforts led by Pakistan. Although the ceasefire was later extended, follow-up negotiations failed to produce a permanent peace agreement.

Reports also noted that former US President Donald Trump recently rejected Iran's proposed 14-point peace plan. Following that move, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf warned that if Washington continued to reject Tehran's proposals, American taxpayers could eventually face severe consequences.
