Indian-Origin Woman, 24, Found Dead In London Car; Neighbour Heard Disturbing Argument

A chilling case has unfolded in London as the body of 24-year-old Harshita Brella, an Indian-origin woman, was discovered in the trunk of a car in Ilford.

The tragic discovery has prompted a major police investigation, with the authorities suspecting that Brella was murdered by her husband, Pankaj Lamba.

The body was found in the early hours of Thursday on Brisbane Road, near Valentines Park. The police were alerted after a concerned member of the public raised an alarm about Brella's welfare. Despite visiting her home in Corby, the police received no response, leading to a missing person inquiry. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before her body was discovered in the car, confirming her worst fears.

Neighbours of Brella have described a series of disturbing events in the days leading up to the discovery. One neighbour, Kelly Philp, recalled hearing an argument between a man and a woman just days before Brella's death. Although the argument was in a foreign language, Philp mentioned that the woman seemed frightened. She also heard banging sounds and a commotion that left her feeling uneasy, though she initially dismissed it as a domestic dispute. "I feel so sad about the loss of the lass. I can't get over it," Philp expressed in an interview, unable to believe the tragic turn of events.

The investigation is intensifying as police gather clues and sift through CCTV footage. Authorities believe that Brella was murdered in Northamptonshire before her body was transported to London. A major manhunt is underway for Pankaj Lamba, who is suspected to have fled the country. Lamba is also believed to be the primary suspect in the murder.

This case takes on added significance because Brella had been a victim of domestic violence earlier this year. In September, she was granted a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) by Northampton Magistrates' Court, which forbade the perpetrator from visiting her workplace or contacting her. The order aimed to protect Brella from molestation, threats, and harassment. Despite these protective measures, the authorities are now grappling with the tragic outcome.

Chief Inspector Paul Cash has confirmed that more than 60 detectives are actively working on the case. Investigators are conducting house-to-house inquiries and analyzing surveillance footage in an attempt to piece together the events that led to Brella's death. Police have assured the public that there is no broader risk to the community, although extra patrols are being carried out in Corby for reassurance.

Detectives believe that Brella's death was the result of an attack by someone known to her, though they remain open to other possibilities. They are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward, no matter how small it may seem. A spokesperson from Northamptonshire Police has also announced that an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) referral has been made due to previous contact with Brella.

As the investigation continues, police are calling for public help. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has information related to Brella's death is urged to contact the authorities. They can reach police at 101, quoting Operation Westcott, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of addressing domestic violence and the need for continued vigilance to protect vulnerable individuals. The community, still reeling from the loss, is left searching for answers as investigators work tirelessly to bring Brella's killer to justice.
