Biden and Modi Highlight Strengthened India-US Partnership During Recent Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Joe Biden, who praised the India-US partnership as stronger and more dynamic than ever. The meeting took place during the Quad summit, focusing on enhancing the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Modi was warmly welcomed by Biden at his residence in Greenville, Delaware, where they embraced and discussed new areas of cooperation.

Modi's visit to the United States includes separate meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. These discussions are part of the Quad Summit, hosted by President Biden in Wilmington. The summit aims to introduce initiatives to strengthen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and address conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
Quad Summit Focus
The Quad, comprising India, the US, Australia, and Japan, promotes a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific. Beijing views it as an anti-China alliance. Modi expressed anticipation for collaborating with Biden, Albanese, and Kishida at the summit. The forum is seen as a vital group for peace and prosperity in the region.
A significant initiative from the Quad leaders will focus on combating cancer by improving prevention, detection, treatment, and support for patients and families. This milestone effort highlights the group's commitment to addressing global health challenges.
Modi's Engagements in the US
Upon arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora. He interacted with people dressed in traditional attire, signing autographs and shaking hands. "An energetic welcome in Philadelphia! Our diaspora's blessings are greatly cherished," Modi shared on social media.
Modi's itinerary includes attending an Indian community event at Long Island on September 22 and addressing the UN General Assembly's Summit of the Future. He will also participate in a round table with American CEOs working on advanced technologies like AI and quantum computing.
Strengthening India-US Ties
The meeting between Modi and Biden was attended by key officials from both sides. India's delegation included External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The US team featured Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
Sullivan noted that discussions would likely cover the Ukraine war and Modi's recent visit to Kyiv. "My meeting with President Biden will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good," Modi stated before his departure from New Delhi.
The Summit of the Future aims to establish a new international consensus for a better present and future. Modi plans to share perspectives representing one-sixth of humanity, emphasizing their stakes in a peaceful future.
