India Backs Two-State Solution For Palestinian Independence: New Delhi's UN Statement
The stance on a two-state solution for Palestinians was reiterated by India at the United Nations as the war between Israel and Hamas continued to rage.
During the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, highlighted that Palestinians' rights to live freely in an independent country within secured borders, while also considering Israel's security needs, are supported by India, as reported by First Post.

Further, Kamboj expressed that there is hope for Palestine's membership to be reconsidered in due course and that the region's bid for permanent UN membership will receive support.
The US vetoed a UNSC resolution advocating for Palestinian statehood last month, which drew criticism from many countries supporting the Palestinian cause.
Regarding this matter, Kamboj noted, "While it has been observed that the Security Council did not approve Palestine's application for membership at the UN because of the aforementioned veto, it is hoped that this will be reconsidered in due course and that Palestine's endeavour to become a member of the UN will be endorsed," as reported by First Post.
India's stance on the ongoing war was highlighted by the UN representative, emphasizing that it has led to large-scale violence and the deaths of many individuals, particularly women and children.
It was emphasized by Kamboj that India has strongly condemned the deaths of civilians in the conflict and firmly believes that international law and international humanitarian law must be respected by everyone under all circumstances. The terror attacks by Hamas on Israel on October 7 were described as "shocking," and it was stressed that they deserve "unequivocal condemnation."
