Ready to "talk to anyone" for country's sake: Imran Khan

Shehbaz has urged political leaders to work together to address the nation's problems, while speaking in the Senate at a session to commemorate its golden jubilee

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has struck a conciliatory tone declaring that he was willing to "talk to anyone" and "make any sacrifice" for the country's "uplift, interest, and democracy."

This came after Pakistan prime minister Shehbaz Sharif urged cooperation to address Pakistan's problems, reported Dawn.

"I will not refrain from any sacrifice for the sake of Pakistan's uplift, interest and democracy. In this regard, I am willing to talk to anyone and take every step towards it," Imran Khan tweeted.

"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Pakistan who joined us in the struggle for true freedom and to our workers from all over Pakistan, including Lahore," he said in another tweet.

Pak Police Wants to Assassinate Me: Khan

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief on Wednesday alleged that the "real intent" of Pakistan Police was to "abduct and assassinate" him. "Clearly 'arrest' claim was mere drama because real intent is to abduct & assassinate. From tear gas & water cannons, they have now resorted to live firing. I signed a surety bond last evening, but the DIG refused to even entertain it. There is no doubt of their mala fide intent," Khan posted on Twitter today. The former Pakistan Prime Minister claimed that his house has been under heavy attack since yesterday afternoon.

"Latest attack by Rangers, pitting the largest political party against the army. This is what PDM and the enemies of Pakistan want. No lessons learnt from the East Pakistan tragedy," Khan added.

PM Shehbaz urged political leaders to work together to address the nation's problems, while speaking in the Senate at a session to commemorate its golden jubilee, according to Dawn.

The Prime Minister claimed in his speech that political stability was necessary for economic stability. He said that by seizing the reins amid challenging economic times, the coalition administration had sacrificed its politics for the nation's benefit.

A staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was forthcoming, he informed the upper house of Parliament. He further accused the previous government of deliberately breaking its agreements with the money lender.
