How US Prez Trump Brokered Ceasefire In Call With Israel PM Netanyahu
After a weekend on the brink of war, a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Iran is set to take effect, a deal the White House says was personally brokered by President Donald Trump, Reuters reported.
Trump's Phone Call
The crisis escalated early on Sunday when President Trump authorized US bombers to strike Iran's underground nuclear facilities, a major military intervention he had long vowed to avoid. Iran retaliated by launching missiles at a uS air base on Monday. As both sides threatened further attacks, President Trump shifted tactics, directing his team to open channels with Tehran and placing a call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The president's directive was clear: "Get me Bibi. We're going to make peace." The ensuing talks, led by a team including VP JD Vance, resulted in the ceasefire agreement, according to a senior official.
The report claims that the US President had negotiated with Iran on five different occasions in the weeks leading up to the conflict. However, the talks did not come to fruition since Iran was firm on its stand that it would continue enriching uranium.
No Ceasefire Yet: Iran
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Monday refuted the reports of a ceasefire agreement with Israel.
Araghchi, in a social media post, stated that the current conflict was initiated by Israel and "not the other way around." He noted that Iran has no intention to continue with the conflict unless the Israeli regime "stops its illegal aggression."
"As Iran has repeatedly made clear, Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around. As of now, there is NO "agreement" on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations. However, provided that the Israeli regime stops its illegal aggression against the Iranian people no later than 4 am Tehran time, we have no intention to continue our response afterwards. The final decision on the cessation of our military operations will be made later," he posted.
In another post, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised the country's armed forces for their role in the ongoing conflict. "The military operations of our powerful Armed Forces to punish Israel for its aggression continued until the very last minute, at 4 am. Together with all Iranians, I thank our brave Armed Forces who remain ready to defend our dear country until their last drop of blood, and who responded to any attack by the enemy until the very last minute," Araghchi stated.
His comments come after US President claimed that the warring countries have agreed to a ceasefire.
"CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!" Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
