Islamabad, July 6: Trust us, Indians and Pakistanis are same but different too. In the subcontinent, while India is considered to be the "big brother", the "enemy nation" always tries to emulate the neighbouring country, keeping aside all their differences in the border areas.

After Indian television journalism went loud and crazy, Pakistani channels quickly followed suit. Thus every night, Indian and Pakistani television viewers are bombarded with rhetoric and ugly debates minus the real news.

But once in a while, Pakistan ensures that in the game of television reporting it is ahead of its neighbouring country.

On Thursday, a video of a Pakistani TV journalist sitting in a pink inflatable pool on a flooded road in Lahore while reporting on horrors of waterlogging went viral.

In order to highlight the government's apathy towards the waterlogging problem in Lahore after the city recently received record rainfall, the Dunya News reporter decided to go little adventurous.

Like a true blue journalist bringing the action from the ground, the Dunya News reporter literally jumps into dirty water. The crew members of the news channel showed viewers how creative they were as the reporter spoke about rainfall and flooding in Lahore by sitting in an inflatable pool and surrounded by floaties.

The best part of the video is that the journalist throughout his reporting exercise maintained a sarcastic tone to hit the authorities where it hurts the most.

"I am not in a swimming pool but in the middle of the road which is flooded with water and so are other parts of the city," said the reporter. He added that he was "enjoying in water pool" and recommended the locals to do the same "as the water was not going to recede anytime soon."

Back in India, the Dunya News reporter reminded everyone of the Telugu TV reporter who lay down in a bathroom to report about the tragic demise of noted actress Sridevi a few months ago.

See, that is why we said India and Pakistan are same. While an Indian journalist reports from a bathtub, the Pakistani reporter replaces the bathtub with an inflatable pool.

Who said war reporting is the most risky and adventurous assignment for any die-hard journalist? In India and Pakistan, bathtub and pool journalism is also equally challenging.

This is how the subcontinent is raising its bar in journalism. Next time, when you complain that journalism has become farce, just remember Indian and Pakistani reporters are working really hard to bring the highlights from bathtubs and pools.
