Harvard student held for bomb hoax
Massachusetts, Dec 18: Two days after a bomb scare set off panic buttons at the Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts campus, a Harvard student was charged with making false bomb threats to the university, US prosecutors said on Tuesday.

According to reports, the US attorney's office said Eldo Kim had sent emails to university officials, saying "shrapnel bombs" had been placed in four buildings on campus. The 20-year-old made the bomb hoax in order to avoid taking a final exam.

The moment news of explosives on campus reached the University authorities; they issued an alert on their website and their Twitter account and began evacuations. Following the reports, some final year exams were also cancelled.

Kim is due in federal court in Boston on Wednesday. If convicted he faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
