Gut Wrenching Video: 2 Minors Charged For Intentional Hit And Run In Las Vegas

Days after the disturbing video of a laughing teen deliberately ramming his car into a bicyclist in Las Vegas went viral, the authorities have caught two teenagers involved in the incident.

The two teenagers are now facing murder charges for killing the bicyclist while capturing on video the moment they drove into the man as he pedaled along the side of a road, authorities said on Tuesday.

The Las Vegas police department stated that they have linked the teenagers to a minimum of three hit-and-run occurrences on the morning of August 14. They suspect that the demise of 64-year-old Andreas Rene Probst, a former police chief in Bell, California, was the last incident in this series.

Footage captured from the front passenger seat showed the vehicle closing in on Probst from the rear as he rode along the curb on a road mostly devoid of traffic.

Shockingly, the individuals inside the car can be heard laughing as the vehicle deliberately moves towards Probst, colliding with the bicycle. This forceful impact propels Probst onto the hood and subsequently into the windshield.

The last image from the moving car shows the retired cop on the ground next to the curb.

Deputy Police Chief Nick Farese has described the recording from inside a stolen vehicle appalling and a "cowardly act."

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson expressed personal involvement in the case and committed to charging both teenagers as adults. He stated that until that process, their identities would be withheld. "Justice will be served in this case," Wolfson said.

Taylor Probst, addressing media, said that his father, known as Andy, as a man of honor and integrity who worked for more than 35 years in law enforcement.

"We are devastated by the senseless murder of Andy," she said. "Andy's life was robbed by two individuals who did not believe that lives of others matter."

On the day of the hit-and-run incidents resulting in a fatality, the 17-year-old driver was apprehended for traffic offenses. The police were initially unaware of the video, and it was only weeks later that a school resource officer provided it to investigators. This led to a murder charge for the driver and initiated a police search for the passenger seen in the video. The second teenager was arrested on Tuesday.

According to law enforcement, the vehicular offenses began just before dawn when the teenagers collided with a 72-year-old bicyclist, then fled and crashed into a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Corolla was unharmed, as per the police statement. The injuries sustained by the bicyclist, if any, were not specified.

Shortly after colliding with the Toyota, the teenagers struck Probst while he was cycling in a designated bike lane, according to the police.

"They took off while laughing," stated Farese, the deputy police chief, "leaving him for dead on the side of a road."
