Egyptian Foreign Minister Postpones India Visit Amid US Strikes On Iran

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has called off his planned two-day visit to India, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, in light of the rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East following the U.S. airstrikes on three major nuclear sites in Iran.

The visit was expected to include wide-ranging discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, focusing on enhancing bilateral ties and economic cooperation.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Postpones India Visit Amid US Strikes On Iran

An official confirmed the development, stating, "The visit of the foreign minister of Egypt has been postponed."

The cancellation comes in the wake of the U.S. bombing of Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan - key sites in Iran's nuclear program - which has significantly heightened regional instability. Given the volatile security environment, Cairo has decided to defer the trip.

This marks the second time in 2025 that the Egyptian foreign minister's visit to India has been postponed due to unfolding global geopolitical crises. The earlier cancellation also stemmed from international instability impacting diplomatic schedules.

The Ministry of External Affairs has not yet announced a rescheduled date for the visit. Both sides are expected to remain in contact to arrange a future opportunity when the regional situation stabilizes.
