Donald Trump Says Iran Will Not Win War, Should Push For Talk Before It's Too Late
As the G7 summit kicked off in Canada, former U.S. President Donald Trump took center stage with strong statements on the escalating Israel-Iran conflict and his controversial stance on Russia's place in global diplomacy.
In a firm show of support, Trump declared that Iran "will not prevail" in its confrontation with Israel and urged Tehran to return to negotiations immediately. His remarks followed closely on the heels of earlier comments expressing hope for a potential deal between the two arch-rivals.

Before departing for the summit, Trump reaffirmed the United States' unwavering commitment to Israel's defense. In a phone interview with Reuters, he confirmed that his administration was fully aware of Israel's airstrikes inside Iran, calling them "excellent" and "very successful." He praised Israel's military precision while stressing the need for Iran to re-engage in nuclear talks.
At the summit itself, Trump broke ranks with other world leaders by declining to endorse a joint G7 statement calling for de-escalation in the Middle East. According to unnamed U.S. officials cited by Reuters, this move highlighted Trump's distinctive foreign policy approach compared to leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the European Union.
Trump also reignited a long-standing debate on Russia's 2014 expulsion from the then-G8, criticizing the decision and pointing fingers at former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Barack Obama for removing Russia following the annexation of Crimea. Trump argued that the Russia-Ukraine war might have been prevented had Russia remained part of the alliance.
He openly advocated for Russia's reinstatement into the group, suggesting that Moscow's inclusion could foster diplomatic dialogue and global stability. Trump even went a step further by expressing willingness to consider China's inclusion if proposed by other G7 members.
Meanwhile, Israel has intensified its campaign against Iran, targeting key infrastructure including the Iranian state TV headquarters, the defense ministry in Tehran, and a major gas processing facility in Bushehr Province linked to the South Pars gas field.
Trump's positioning at the G7 - championing Israel's actions, pushing for renewed talks with Iran, and calling for Russia's return to global forums - underscores his belief in bilateral strength and open diplomacy, even as global tensions rise.
