Donald Trump Confirms Elon Musk Will Soon 'Step Back' From US Govt Role
US President Donald Trump has informed members of his cabinet and close aides that Elon Musk will soon be "stepping back" from his position within the government.
According to a report by Politico, Trump is satisfied with the billionaire's contributions to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

However, both parties have agreed that the time is approaching for Musk to return to his businesses while taking on a "supporting role," according to sources close to Trump who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity.
Some members of Trump's administration, along with his allies, are reportedly frustrated with Musk and see him as a "political liability."
This development follows the recent election in Wisconsin, where voters chose a liberal judge for the state's Supreme Court, despite Musk investing millions in an attempt to influence the race.
According to AFP, Susan Crawford decisively defeated Trump-backed Brad Schimel, with over 95% of votes counted.
"Wisconsin stood up and said loudly that justice does not have a price," Crawford declared in her victory speech following what has been called the most expensive judicial contest in US history.
Musk Likely to Retain an Advisory Role
According to Politico, a senior government official stated that Musk is expected to maintain an "informal role" as an adviser and may continue to "be an occasional face" at the White House.
Another official warned that anyone assuming Musk will completely exit Trump's sphere of influence is "fooling themselves."
Insiders suggest that Musk's transition is likely to coincide with the conclusion of his tenure as a "special government employee."
Musk's Defenders in the Trump Administration
Supporters of Musk within the administration argue that now is the right time for this transition, as there is only so much he can "cut from government agencies without shaving too close to the bone."
On March 24, during a cabinet meeting, Trump stated that Musk would be "transitioning out of the administration."
"Elon, I want to thank you - I know you've been through a lot," Trump said, referring to threats and vandalism directed at Tesla vehicles. He went on to call Musk "a patriot" and "a friend of mine."
"At some point, Elon's going to want to go back to his company. He wants to. I'd keep him as long as I could keep him," Politico quoted Trump as saying.
