Closely Monitoring India-Pakistan's War-Like Situation: China
In the wake of the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives on April 22, China has stepped forward, aligning itself with Pakistan and calling for a fair investigation into the incident. During a conversation with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi articulated China's concern over the escalating tension between Pakistan and India. He underscored the necessity for a thorough and unbiased inquiry, urging both nations to show restraint and work towards diffusing the current strain in their relations. Wang's comments were reported by Global Times, highlighting China's stance on the situation as it unfolds.

The commitment of China to support Pakistan, described as its "ironclad friend and all-weather strategic cooperative partner," remains unwavering. Wang Yi reassured that China recognizes Pakistan's legitimate security worries and backs its endeavors to safeguard sovereignty and security interests. This affirmation of support follows a Pakistani minister's plea for an "independent investigation" into the terror attack with possible involvement from Russia, China, or other Western nations.
In contrast, the United States, through President Donald Trump, has indicated a reluctance to intervene in the India-Pakistan tensions, which he described as being centuries old. Trump's remarks suggest a hands-off approach, emphasizing the longstanding nature of the discord between the two countries while expressing confidence in their ability to resolve their issues independently.
Amid these international dynamics, China has reiterated its intention to fortify relations with India, with Yi stating last month that trade ties should not be overshadowed by boundary disputes. He emphasized the importance of India and China, as the largest neighbors, to be partners in success. This comes as both countries successfully completed the disengagement process in Depsang and Demchok in Eastern Ladakh, signaling a move towards the normalization of bilateral relations after a 54-month-long military standoff.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India has taken charge of the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack. Following directives from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the NIA has initiated a comprehensive probe, deploying multiple teams to gather evidence and interview eyewitnesses. This development marks a pivotal step in uncovering the intricacies behind the attack, as the agency intensifies its efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
