Chinese experts praise Trump for North Korea initiative: Report
China has been making all possible efforts to ensure its rival United States does not run away with the credit for making the Korean peace project successful and amid this, informal sources in the country have hailed US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's latest visit to Pyongyang to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to finalise details of the much awaited meeting between Kim and US President Donald Trump.

A piece carried by China's Global Times cited Chinese experts as saying that Pompeo's recent visit to North Korea "helped secure chances of a successful summit for the leaders of the two countries" and advised avoiding of hostile gestures towards the Kim regime.
Pompeo returned with three US citizens who were detained with North Korea and they were greeted personally by Trump on their touching the American soil.
Trump also tweeted about the same, saying: "I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting. They seem to be in good health."
Trump also said on Twitter that the date and place for his meeting with Kim were set.
Pompeo made a secret visit to North Korea in early April though in the capacity of the chief of the Central Intelligence Agency a few days after Kim made his first surprising visit to China. Interestingly, Pompeo's second visit also came a day after Kim met Chinese President Xi Jinping in China for the second time.
A Chinese expert said that Trump showed a "praiseworthy sincerity about dialogue" with Kim by sending Pompeo twice to Pyongyang in less than six weeks, according to Global Times. He also credited both the US and North Korea for contributing a "positive atmosphere" for the talks.
Citing Pompeo's remark that the US and North Korea are hopeful about working together to resolve the conflict, another expert said the rhetoric is a "positive response" to Pyongyang's expectation that Washington would its halt hostility towards the former, the Global Times further said.
The experts also said that the historic summit between the leaderships of North and South Korea on April 27 played an important role in creating conducive condition for the meeting.
They also gave Jinping credit for calling on both the US and North Korea to build mutual trust and address each other's concern through dialogue, the report added.
One of the experts said the North Korean leader's resolve to denuclearise his country was consolidated by his two meetings with Jinping, the Global Times report said.
