Canadian Officials Accused of Leaking Intel to U.S. Media, Alleging Amit Shah's Role in Hostile Activities

New revelations continue to surface regarding the India-Canada dispute, suggesting that Justin Trudeau's government is actively straining its diplomatic relations with India while leading a targeted campaign against the country. Recently, it was revealed that two senior Canadian officials deliberately leaked sensitive information implicating India to U.S. media in an attempt to gain a moral advantage. The leaked information included allegations against India's Home Affairs Minister, Amit Shah, accusing him of directing hostile activities within Canada.

Canadian Officials Accused of Leaking Intel to U S Media Alleging Amit Shah s Role in Hostile Activities

Canada's National Security and Intelligence Advisor, Nathalie Drouin, along with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Morrison, shared this information with The Washington Post before the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) publicly accused India of involvement in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and other incidents in Canada.

A report from The Globe and Mail detailed that Drouin acknowledged the leak during a parliamentary panel session, describing it as a "communications strategy" aimed at ensuring a prominent American outlet presented Canada's perspective on the escalating diplomatic tensions with India. Drouin further stated that the strategy was known to the Prime Minister's Office, though it did not require direct authorization from Prime Minister Trudeau. However, the lack of intervention from Trudeau has been interpreted as tacit approval of the approach.

The communication strategy also included claims linking Indian officials to the murder of Khalistani supporter Sukhdool Singh Gill, who was fatally shot in Winnipeg last year. This followed Trudeau's initial accusation implicating Indian officials in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, though no supporting evidence was presented.
