Bomb Threat Forces Lufthansa Flight to Divert Back to Frankfurt Before Reaching Hyderabad
A Lufthansa flight bound for Hyderabad had to return to Frankfurt Airport due to a bomb threat. The aircraft landed safely in Hyderabad on Monday night. A passenger mentioned that the pilot apologised for the delay, citing reasons beyond their control. The flight was initially scheduled to land at 23:18 hrs, according to Lufthansa's earlier response.

Flight LH752, which departed from Germany on Sunday afternoon, was supposed to reach Hyderabad early Monday. However, it had to turn back because of a bomb threat shared on social media. Lufthansa provided overnight accommodation for passengers in Frankfurt. "The safety of our passengers and crew is Lufthansa’s highest priority," the airline stated.
Bomb Threat and Safety Measures
Hyderabad airport sources revealed that a bomb threat email targeting flight LH752 was received at 18:01 hrs on 15th June 2025. A bomb threat assessment committee was formed, and standard procedures were followed. For safety reasons, the airline was advised to return to its origin or the nearest suitable airport.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner returned mid-air as another Dreamliner, British Airways Flight BA35, also returned to London Heathrow due to a technical issue. British Airways stated that the aircraft returned as a precaution after reports of a technical problem. The flight landed safely, and passengers disembarked normally.
Passenger Experiences and Reactions
A passenger on the Hyderabad-bound flight shared that they were informed about Hyderabad not granting permission for landing. "It was a smooth flight, and after about two hours in the air, we were told we would be returning to Frankfurt," she said. She confirmed that passengers were checking in for the rescheduled flight on Monday morning.
A spokesperson from Frankfurt Airport confirmed that LH752 had landed back in Germany. Air Traffic Control at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a message shortly after take-off that the flight was returning to Frankfurt.
Related Incidents and Safety Protocols
This incident follows a similar situation where an Air India Airbus A320 had to return to Phuket Airport due to a bomb threat last Friday. Additionally, an Air India Flight AI171 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad on Thursday, resulting in significant casualties.
Airline sources noted that emergency landings are not uncommon when technical issues are reported. They emphasised that safety protocols are always prioritised in such situations.
The recent events highlight the importance of stringent safety measures in aviation. Airlines continue to ensure passenger safety by adhering to established protocols during emergencies.
