Biden said that Israel has the right, and he would add responsibility, to respond to the slaughter of their people. Biden also said that Hamas does not represent the vast majority of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip or anywhere else. Biden also said that Israelis and Palestinians equally deserve to live side by side in safety, dignity, and peace. He said that there is no going back to the status quo as it stood on October 6th. That means ensuring Hamas can no longer terrorize Israel and use Palestinian civilians as human shields, he said. Biden emphasized the need for a two-state solution and a concentrated effort from all the parties involved to put them on a path toward peace.
