Authorities Investigate Laotian Gang Members Linked to Seven Killings at Illegal Marijuana Grow
Authorities in Southern California suspect gang members of Laotian descent were involved in the 2020 shooting deaths of seven individuals at an illegal marijuana operation. The incident occurred in Aguanga, a rural town. Riverside County Sheriffs have identified a dark-coloured SUV believed to be used during the killings. They plan to discuss the investigation further at a news conference on Friday.

The tragic event took place over four years ago, resulting in the deaths of seven Laotian victims. Six people were found dead at the scene, while a woman succumbed to her injuries later at a hospital. The property housed over 20 people and contained makeshift dwellings and a nursery.
Illegal Marijuana Operation
Authorities discovered more than 1,000 marijuana plants and several hundred pounds of processed marijuana at the site. Despite California legalising recreational marijuana sales in January 2018, the illegal market persisted. High legal taxes drove consumers to seek cheaper options in the illicit economy.
Aguanga is a small mountainous community located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northeast of San Diego. The area is known for its horse ranches and dirt roads. The killings are believed to be a targeted incident, according to officials.
The investigation into this case has been ongoing for several years, with authorities working diligently to uncover those responsible. The community remains on edge as they await further updates from law enforcement regarding any potential arrests or developments in the case.
