Two Americans Held Hostage By Hamas Freed, Govt To Provide Full Support In Recovery, Says US President Biden
US President Joe Biden announced on Friday that two American citizens held hostage by Hamas since October 7 have been released. The duo, a mother and her teenage daughter, will receive full support from the US government during their recovery and healing process. Biden expressed his gratitude towards the governments of Qatar and Israel for their partnership in securing the release of these hostages.

Biden had a phone conversation with the two released hostages and their family shortly after the announcement. "Today, we have secured the release of two Americans taken hostage by Hamas during the horrific terrorist assault against Israel on October 7," said Biden in an official statement. He further added that these individuals and their families would have complete support from the United States government as they recover and heal.
The First Hostage Release by Hamas
This is reportedly the first time that hostages have been released by Hamas, but more than 200 are still being held captive. Since this attack's early moments, Biden stated that his administration has been working tirelessly to free American citizens who were taken hostage by Hamas.
Statement from US Secretary of State Tony Blinken
Tony Blinken, US Secretary of State confirmed that both Americans were now safely in Israeli authority's hands. He told reporters here: "Over the coming hours, they will receive any support and assistance they need." However, he also mentioned ten additional Americans who remain unaccounted for in this conflict along with an estimated 200 other hostages in Gaza which includes men, women, young boys & girls as well as elderly people from many nations.
Acknowledgement to Government of Qatar
Blinken thanked Qatar's government for its aid in releasing these two hostages while acknowledging how agonizing it is for families not knowing the fate of their loved ones. He assured that the entire US government will work every minute of every day to secure their release and bring them home.
In conclusion, this news has brought a sigh of relief for families back in America while also highlighting the urgency and commitment needed from Biden's administration to secure the release of other hostages still held by Hamas. The role played by Qatar and Israel in securing these releases also underscores the importance of international cooperation in such crises. As more efforts are being made towards rescuing those remaining, it is hoped that they too will soon be reunited with their loved ones.
