Indore, June 1: A 50-year-old man was today arrested here for allegedly cheating around 400 unemployed youth by misusing the name of 'Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana', police said.

Indore Additional Superintendent of Police Bittu Sehgal told reporters that accused Janak Mehta opened a "training centre" and collected money from around 400 youth in the name of a month-long training under the scheme.

Mehta promised the youth that they will get a certificate from 'Rashtriya Kaushal Vikas Nigam' on completion of the training and the fee of Rs 2,000 will be refunded, the ASP said.

However, when the training got over, neither certificate was given nor was any fee refunded. After some of the youths filed a complaint, police found out that the training centre was not recognised under the scheme, Sehgal said.

According to the officer, Mehta who hails from Bhavnagar of Gujarat, had allegedly cheated people in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh earlier, where he was arrested and got bail.
