Mumbai, July 30: Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) once again made headlines and this time he is new over his comment on Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Tushar Gandhi.

RGV, while writing on micro-blogging site Twitter, claimed that Mahatma Gandhi would have hanged Tushar Gandhi. The Bollywood director's statement surfaced hours after Tushar Gandhi's appearance on a TV news channel.

Tushar Gandhi, during a debate on Yakub Memon's death sentence, claimed that capital punishment should be abolished from the country. He was quoted as saying, "This is nothing but judiciary-sanctioned murder and (it) must be abolished."

"I am opposed to death penalty because execution is like evil countering evil and two evils cannot make a good. It is a medieval, barbaric practice to bring the accused of a crime to justice," Tushar Gandhi said.

Hours after Tushar Gandhi's statement on TV, RGV tweeted, "Sympathy of certain people on Memon is because in his pics he looks normal like any of us whereas the dead 257 people are just a number.

"I wish we can see pic of Memon along with pics of all murdered 257 people laid side by side..Only then his horrificness can be understood (sic)," added RGV.

Here are a few tweets tweeted by RGV:

Yakub Memon, the 1993 blasts convicts, has been hanged in Nagpur Central Jail on Thursday, July 30. His body has taken to Mumbai where his final rites will be performed by his family members.
