With Congress in tatters, Sonia is back in action

Since the past week, Sonia Gandhi has been engaging with party workers. Most of them want her to return to the main fold and lead the party.

Sonia Gandhi who returned from abroad following medical treatment is back in action. She will chair a meeting of the Congress leaders ahead of the budget session and also host a dinner. The Congress is in desperate need for guidance and with Rahul Gandhi unable to provide that, the mantle has fallen on Sonia Gandhi.

She has already held several strategy meetings in which the big demand was to fix the responsibility on those responsible for the poll debacles at Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There were cries to also fix the responsibility on those who failed to seize the initiative in Manipur and Goa where the Congress had emerged as the single largest party.

Since the past week, Sonia Gandhi has been engaging with party workers. Most of them want her to return to the main fold and lead the party. Currently Sonia is working with some Congress leaders on restructuring the party. The party is about to go in for a major overhaul.

Keeping the flock together is the biggest challenge for the Congress. With big names quitting the party blaming the leadership, Sonia Gandhi is trying to stop the exodus.

The party is also planning for the elections in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. Barring Gujarat, the Congress has governments in the other two states and the attempt would be to retain them in 2017 and 2018.
