Officials discussed ways to cut fuel expenses while ensuring administrative work continues smoothly.

Push For Work From Home Culture

One of the biggest proposals discussed was the promotion of work-from-home arrangements in government departments and offices wherever possible.

According to officials, departments with a large workforce may soon receive advisories encouraging employees to work from home two days a week.

The state government believes remote working can significantly reduce daily fuel consumption and traffic pressure.

The proposal also reflects a broader shift towards hybrid work culture that became more common during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Virtual Meetings To Replace Physical Gatherings

The government has also directed departments to conduct seminars, workshops and official meetings virtually as much as possible.

Officials said nearly 50 percent of internal meetings at the State Secretariat and various directorates could soon shift to online mode.
The aim is to reduce travel by officials and minimise unnecessary fuel usage.
Virtual meetings had earlier become common during the pandemic, and the state now plans to revive many of those practices.

Focus On Public Transport

The Uttar Pradesh government is also encouraging greater use of public transport systems.

During the review meeting, CM Yogi highlighted the importance of using:

• PNG-based transport systems
• State-run buses
• Public transport networks

The Chief Minister urged citizens and officials to avoid excessive private vehicle use wherever possible. He specifically encouraged people to prefer buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
