Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat Affirms Support for Eknath Shinde's Leadership in Upcoming Decisions
Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Shirsat expressed unwavering support for Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, stating that party leaders will follow Shinde's lead after the assembly poll results. Shirsat emphasised that any decision made by Shinde will be accepted by the party, highlighting their trust in his leadership. These remarks were made just two days before the state assembly election results.

When questioned about the possibility of Shinde aligning with rival NCP SP president Sharad Pawar to become chief minister again, Shirsat reiterated, "We are committed to follow whatever Eknath Shinde decides. We will be solidly with him. We trust him and it will always be there." This statement was made during an interview on a television channel.
Shiv Sena's Trust in Leadership
Shirsat noted that since Shinde assumed the role of CM in June 2022 after a revolt against the previous Shiv Sena leadership, he has consistently led in the right direction. This has been the experience of party leaders, according to Shirsat, who was among those who supported Shinde during the revolt.
In response to Shirsat's comments, BJP leader Pravin Darekar clarified that these remarks do not represent the official stance of their party. The BJP, along with the Shinde-led Shiv Sena and NCP headed by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, forms part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance.
Political Alliances and Speculations
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comprises Congress, Shiv Sena UBT, and NCP led by Sharadchandra Pawar. The idea of an alliance between Shinde's party and MVA was deemed inconceivable by Darekar. The political landscape remains complex with these alliances.
When asked about the scenario where Shinde might not be reappointed as CM if Mahayuti retains power, Shirsat stated that such a decision rests solely with Eknath Shinde. He added that they cannot comment on it and will accept whatever decision is made by Shinde.
Upcoming Election Results
The voting for Maharashtra's 288-member state assembly concluded on November 20. The results are set to be announced on November 23, which will determine the future political direction and leadership decisions within the state.
The Shiv Sena's commitment to following Eknath Shinde underscores their confidence in his leadership abilities. As political dynamics unfold post-election results, all eyes remain on how alliances and leadership roles will shape up in Maharashtra.
