Former Jharkhand chief minister Champai Soren's latest move has fueled rumours that he will switch sides with only a few months left to the Jharkhand assembly elections 2024. It was reported that former CM Champai Soren removed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) from his X (Twitter) profile.

It was learned that Champai Soren and a few members of JMM are not happy with Hemant Soren's decision to remove the senior leader, and again become the Chief Minister himself.

However, Upon arriving at Delhi airport, Soren dismissed rumours about his plans to join the BJP. "Hum abhi jahan hain wahin par hain (I am where I am)," he stated when questioned about his intentions. He mentioned that his visit to Delhi was for personal reasons, specifically to meet his daughter.

Champai Soren's Recent Political Moves

In July, Champai Soren, along with ten other leaders from the JMM-led coalition, took oath as ministers in Hemant Soren's government in Jharkhand. This followed his resignation from the chief minister post on July 3, just a day before Hemant Soren assumed office as the 13th chief minister of Jharkhand on July 4.

Earlier on August 17, Champai Soren had addressed similar rumours. He said, "I don't know what rumours are being spread. I don't know what news is being run so I cannot tell whether it's true or not, I don't know anything about it." His statements have consistently downplayed any immediate political shift.

Hemant Soren was released from jail on June 28 after being granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He had resigned as chief minister shortly before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31.
