What Akhilesh said about the tie up with BSP in UP
Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said on Thursday that he is open for a tie up with the BSP if his party fails to get the magic 202 number in the 403 member house. Almost all exit polls have given the BJP the edge. The SP according to these polls are a distant second.
Akhilesh Yadav however is still confident that his party would form the government. In an interview with the BBC, he said that if the need be, there would be an alliance with the BSP.
Akhilesh however during the interview did not spell out the name of BSP or Mayawati directly. He only indicated that his aim was to keep the communal forces out of the game, the SP's Naresh Agarwal clarified. He further said the statements indicated that he would not allow the BJP to remote control the state from the centre and would use full force to stop them.
Akhilesh said that he is confident about forming the government. He did not appear to give much to what the exit polls had said. He said, in case of any requirement, then no one would want a President's rule in Uttar Pradesh or that the BJP runs the state with a remote control.
On the BSP he said that if there is a shortcoming then the SP may go with the party. It is however difficult to say anything now, but I reiterate the the SP-Congress alliance will get a majority in UP.
